WEEKLY Q&A WITH AGGIE DE TY WARREN

***This is the eighth installment of a weekly Q&A session with Ty Warren, the Ags' all-conference senior defensive end.***

BL: Talk about the defense's performance against Oklahoma. What caused the drastic turnaround?

Warren: "We had a great week of practice and I knew that our defense was going to come out with the kind of focus and intensity that we haven't had in the past couple of games. The defense was challenged and we answered that against Oklahoma. They have a great team and to beat them at home was very satisfying for all of us."

BL: Has Kyle Field ever been more raucus than it was on Saturday afternoon?

Warren: "Never. That second half was the loudest that I've ever heard Kyle Field. I imagine it was pretty tough for the Oklahoma offense to get anything going in the fourth quarter. When our crowd is behind us like that and the defense is playing with that kind of emotion, we are not going to be beaten."

BL: Jarrod Penright spoke out in the media before the OU game. What kind of effect did his comments have on the team's attitude?

Warren: "A lot of what Jarrod said was true. I think more than anything we had to realize that we were better than what we were playing like. We talked, both as a team and as seniors, and we knew that we had to play better if we wanted to go out with some big wins."

BL: You re-injured your ankle in the second quarter and did not return. From the sindelines, what were you thinking as the game reached it's conclusion?

Warren: "It was hard watching from the sidelines in the second half, but not nearly as much as it was against Nebraska. We beat the #1 team in the country, it's a game that I'll never forget and I don't know how you can top something like that. Even though I wasn't playing in the second half, I played a part in the outcome and I was so proud of my teammates pulling it off there at the end. The other d-linemen, especially Linnis Smith and Marcus Jasmin, really stepped up and made some big plays. Linnis doesn't get a lot of hype, but he's having a really good season."

BL: I saw you talking to your buddy, Tommie Harris, after the game. What did you say to him?

Warren: "I just told Tommie to keep his head up and wished him luck the rest of the season. We became good friends a couple of years ago when he was being recruited and I'm really happy for him. He's already having a great career up there. I'm proud of him. Believe me, he's a great player who is going to get nothing but better."

BL: Talk about Reggie McNeal's performance in leading the team to the upset over Oklahoma.

Warren: "It was incredible. Everyone knew that Reggie had that kind of ability, but to do it against Oklahoma's defense in his first real serious playing time showed the whole country what he was capable of doing."
